Η Μητρόπολή μας και ειδικότερα ο Ιερός Καθεδρικός Ναός των Αγίων Ανδρέου και Δημητρίου Μαδρίτης, έζησε ιστορικές στιγμές με αφορμή την εκδημία προς Κύριον της Πριγκιπίσσης Ειρήνης.
Ο Σεβασμιώτατος, από την πρώτη ώρα της κοιμήσεώς της, κατόπιν προσκλήσεως της Βασιλικής Οικογενείας της Ισπανίας τελούσε τρισάγιο καθημερινώς στο παλάτι της Θαρθουέλα παρούσης σύμπασας της Βασιλικής Οικογενείας επί της Σορού της μακαριστής.
Το Σάββατο 19 Ιανουαρίου, σεμνοπρεπώς και κατά την αρχοντική τάξη της ΜτΧΕ, χοροστατούντος του Σεβασμιωτάτου και παρόντων των ΑΑ ΜΜ των Βασιλέων, της ΑΜ της βασιλίσσης μητρός Σοφίας, αυταδέλφης της μακαριστής πριγκιπίσσης, των ΑΑ ΒΒ ΥΥ της Διαδόχου Λεονόρ, της Ινφάντα Σοφίας και λοιπών μελών των Βασιλικών οικογενειών Ισπανίας, Ελλάδος και Βουλγαρίας, όπως και του στενού φιλικού περιβάλλοντος της Πριγκιπίσσης. Ο Σεβασμιώτατος, μετά το πέρας της ιεράς τελετής, απηύθυνε λόγον παρακλήσεως και παραμυθίας σε ένα συγκινησιακά φορτισμένο περιβάλλον.
Την Κυριακή, 20 Ιανουαρίου, ο Σεβασμιώτατος συνόδευσε, κατά παράκληση των ΑΑ ΜΜ των Βασιλέων, το σκήνωμα της μακαριστής εις Αθήνας όπου και εξεπροσώπησε την Α.Θ.Π. την Οικουμενικό Πατριάρχη κ. Βαρθολομαίο κατά την εξόδιο ακολουθία στον Καθεδρικό ναό των Αθηνών, χοροστατούσης της Α.Μ. του αρχιεπισκόπου Αθηνών κ. Ιερωνύμου, μεταφέροντας και τα συλλυπητήρια της Α.Θ.Π. στην Μεγαλειωτάτη βασίλισσα Άννα-Μαρία και τον πρίγκιπα Παύλο, όπως ομοίως και κατά την ταφή στο βασιλικό κοιμητήριο του Τατοΐου.
Η μνήμη της Πριγκιπίσσης θα παραμείνει στην εμπειρία της Μητροπόλεώς μας φωτεινή, αγαπητική, ειρηνική και αιωνία.
Nuestra Metrópolis, y en particular la Santa Iglesia Catedral de los Santos Andrés y Demetrio de Madrid, vivió momentos históricos con motivo de la partida hacia el Señor de la Princesa Irene.
Desde la primera hora de su dormición, Su Eminencia, por invitación de la Familia Real de España, celebraba diariamente el Trisagio (Responso) en el Palacio de la Zarzuela, en presencia de toda la Familia Real, ante el cuerpo de la bienaventurada difunta.
El sábado 19 de enero, de manera sobria y conforme al noble orden y elegancia de la Gran Iglesia de Cristo de Constantinopla, con Su Eminencia presidiendo la celebración, y en presencia de Sus Majestades los Reyes, de Su Majestad la Reina Madre Sofía, hermana de la difunta Princesa, de Sus Altezas Reales la Princesa de Asturias Leonor, la Infanta Sofía, así como de otros miembros de las Familias Reales de España, Grecia y Bulgaria, y del círculo íntimo de amistades de la Princesa, se celebró la sagrada ceremonia.
Al término del oficio litúrgico, Su Eminencia dirigió unas palabras de consuelo y exhortación espiritual en un ambiente profundamente conmovedor.
El domingo 20 de enero, Su Eminencia, a petición de Sus Majestades los Reyes, acompañó el féretro de la difunta a Atenas, donde representó a Su Toda Santidad el Patriarca Ecuménico Bartolomé durante la ceremonia fúnebre en la Catedral de Atenas, presidida por Su Beatitud el Arzobispo de Atenas, Jerónimo. Asimismo, transmitió las condolencias de Su Toda Santidad a Su Majestad la Reina Ana-María y al Príncipe Pavlos, tanto durante las exequias como en el sepelio en el cementerio real de Tatoi.
La memoria de la Princesa permanecerá en la experiencia de nuestra Metrópolis como luminosa, llena de amor, pacífica y eterna.
Our Metropolis, and in particular the Holy Cathedral of Saints Andrew and Demetrius of Madrid, experienced historic moments on the occasion of the falling asleep in the Lord of Princess Irene.
From the very first hour of her repose, His Eminence, at the invitation of the Spanish Royal Family, celebrated the Trisagion service (Responso) daily at the Palace of Zarzuela, in the presence of the entire Royal Family, before the body of the blessed departed.
On Saturday, January 19, in a dignified manner and according to the noble order and eledance of the Great Church of Christ of Constantinople, with His Eminence presiding, and in the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen, Her Majesty Queen Mother Sophia, sister of the departed Princess, Their Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias Leonor and the Infanta Sofia, as well as other members of the Royal Families of Spain, Greece, and Bulgaria, and the Princess’s close circle of friends, the sacred service was solemnly celebrated.
At the conclusion of the service, His Eminence addressed words of supplication and consolation in an atmosphere deeply charged with emotion.
On Sunday, January 20, at the request of Their Majesties the King and Queen, His Eminence accompanied the body of the departed to Athens, where he represented His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the funeral service held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, presided over by His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens Ieronymos. He also conveyed the condolences of His All-Holiness to Her Majesty Queen Anne-Marie and Prince Pavlos, both during the funeral service and at the burial at the Royal Cemetery of Tatoi.
The memory of Princess Irene will remain within the life of our Metropolis as radiant, loving, peaceful, and eternal.
